A Piece of History

The
Granville
Namesake
Eight years before Wisconsin became a state, the Territorial Legislature created the 36 square mile Town of Granville in 1840 in the northwest area of Milwaukee County. The Town of Granville extended north from Hampton Avenue to County Line Road and west from 27th Street and Range Line Road to 124th Street. The Town of Granville was settled by Yankee-Yorkers beginning in 1835.
From its inception, Granville was an agricultural community, and the best farmland in Milwaukee County due to the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Little Menomonee Rivers providing an abundance of water and drainage. When the war ended in 1945, housing and land for housing was needed. Industry moved toward Granville in the northwest. Granville, with 29 of its original 36 square miles, or 80.5 % of its land area, was mainly farms and vacant, undeveloped land. Unfortunately, Granville lacked the population necessary to incorporate. Protesting annexation, a group of Granville residents briefly declared an “Independent Granville” and elected their own government.
Our Story
Family Always.
Granville Firewood began as a leisure activity for John Tabaska in 2008. John would routinely provide firewood to family and friends, relying solely on word to mouth. After retiring from the Milwaukee Police Department in 2017 after 27 years of hard and honest work, John continued to grow his passion and love for firewood alongside his passions like supporting his daughter, Maddelynne, and son, Nollenn, in their sports. Throughout Nollenn's high school years, he would help his father to make money. In recent years, Granville Firewood began to expand into tree service.
After a few years of work in tree service, firewood delivery, and junk removal, in 2025, Granville Firewood rebranded to Granville Services. Today, Granville Services is a dedicated tree service, firewood provider, and junk removal service focused on delivering dependable, high-quality work with honesty at the core of everything we do. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with our customers by prioritizing clear communication, reliability, and honest service on every job.
